Berry Healthy Matcha Smoothie

Part of my daily routine is a wonderful smoothie made from fresh greens and berries. Recently, I began adding some Matcha to this as well for a wonderful boost in nutrients.

So why Matcha, exactly? We all know that green tea is healthy. Think of Matcha as the ultra-concentrated version of your steaming cup of tea, and you’ll see why it’s even better for you. It professes a wide range of health benefits, from increased energy and metabolism boost, to burning calories and improving memory and skin. Best of all, Matcha boasts an impressive 137x the amount of antioxidants of brewed tea.

Here’s the recipe I follow for my family’s daily green smoothie –

Berry Healthy Matcha Smoothie:

Serves 2-4

  • 12oz Orange juice
  • 1 tsp bee pollen
  • 1 tsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp ground flax seeds
  • 2 tsp organic unsulfured molasses
  • 3 large leaves of kale
  • 1/2 c blueberries
  • 1/2 c raspberries, red or black
  • juice from 1/4 lemon
  • 1/2 T matcha
  • 2 c crushed ice
  • 1 c water

Place all ingredients in a large, high-powered blender and blend until smooth.
