Our Favorite Multi-Grain Sandwich Bread Recipe (Ever!)

Here’s a whole-wheat, multi-grain sandwich bread recipe for the books: pillowy soft, yet strong enough to hold up to a sandwich full of crunchy veggie goodness; millet and sunflower seeds add a crunch and a wonderfully nutty flavor that is only enhanced when you toast it up and spread it with butter or jam! This bread is ridiculously good, incredibly simple to make, and has quickly become a staple in my house- in fact, we don’t even bother with that bagged store bought stuff anymore! 🙂 Continue reading

No-Knead Multi-Grain Bread

I have been doing a lot of bread baking lately, experimenting with different flavors and textures. I blame it on the cold weather, when really, there’s nothing better to do than stay inside and cook. One of my happy successes was this multi-grain bread, which won approval from the whole family. Whole wheat flour is combined with all-purpose flour, and is jazzed up with a combination of rolled oats, sunflower seeds, and millet for a chewy, hearty (and healthy!) bread that is perfect for toasting and spreading with jam!

Oh, and did I mention you don’t have to knead it? 🙂 Continue reading

Here’s a great recipe I tried from the King Arthur Flour website- for anyone who hasn’t checked out their website, I highly recommend it. I usually have very good luck with their recipes.

Since I’m trying to avoid GMOs,  I wanted to find english muffins without the corn meal. Unfortunately you can’t seem to buy them that way, so my only option was to make them myself. In place of the corn meal, I used dry Cream Of Wheat (farina). It’s an easy swap, and the texture is exactly the same! 🙂

I found this recipe on www.vegetariantimes.com and just had to give it a try. Originally vegan, I switched out the dairy substitutes for real dairy ingredients (don’t hate me!), and even though it calls for a lot of rise time, they were impressively easy to make- not to mention delicious! I can’t think of a better way to use up any leftover sweet potato you might have from Thanksgiving.

There’s not much I love more than bread. I’m talking hot, crusty, chewy bread with an incredible, homemade flavor that makes your eyes roll up in the back of your head -and I’ve yet to meet anybody that doesn’t feel the same way. There is a reason bread is a part of almost every culture around the world. In my home, love is expressed with a warm loaf of bread, and no meal is complete without it! If this describes you at all, then get out the flour- you’re going to want to try this recipe! Continue reading
